Today was day four of the Army Family Team Building classes that a couple of the girls and I are taking. We have learned SO much in these last two weeks and I can't wait to put some of the things we've learned into action. These classes are designed to prepare us wives for the leadership roles we will take on as our husbands move up in the command of a unit. We will become Family Readiness Group (or FRG) leaders at some point in our husband's career and this information will help us to better lead the group. I am really excited about being a part of a real unit, not the weird unit organization we have here while at school. I'm ready to jump in to "regular" Army life and am excited for school to be over but it's definitely going to be awhile before that happens.
We currently have orders to move to Germany in June, YAY!! Germany will be incredible, and after three changes in orders and an emotional roller coaster, we are both really amped about going. But, as any military family will know well, things are always changing. We just found out yesterday that David has a pre-ranger slot and I am so INCREDIBLY proud of him! Only 25 of the guys in his troop have pre-Ranger slots so he has done an amazingly well to get this far. Barring any weird issues in the pre-Ranger course David will have a Ranger slot sometime in the foreseeable future and while this is a fantastic opportunity for David it also means our orders will be cancelled. This means we will get a FOURTH set of orders. Woah. After our third change in orders I decided that I am going to totally go with the flow and be accepting of wherever the Army sends us. We can and will make a fantastic life out of whatever situation we are put in and I know we are up for the challenge.
I saw this verse on Pinterest (can you say obsession?!) and I feel it totally describes our Army life.
"Where you go I'll go, where you stay I'll stay."
Ruth 1:16
This obviously has a very literal and physical meaning in our life but I really love the spiritual and emotional side of it as well. Knowing that God is just as mobile as our family brings comfort to our hectic lifestyle. Knowing our family will be on board with everything that can and will happen to a military family is encouraging and uplifting. I just love how this verse can apply to so many different aspects of our life!
I feel like I could blabber on forever but I suppose this is enough insight into our life for one day. And I really need to tackle that laundry....
